About

About Hausa Heritage

Learn the language. Discover the traditions. Carry the heritage forward.

Hausa Heritage exists to make the Hausa language and its living traditions accessible to everyone—learners starting from zero, diaspora families reconnecting with their roots, and the simply curious.

Hausa is one of Africa's most widely spoken languages, carried by traders, storytellers, farmers and families across West Africa and beyond. Yet beginner-friendly, audio-supported learning material is still hard to find. We're building it: free guides, illustrated books, weekly YouTube lessons, a monthly Speaking Circle, and personal feedback on your speaking and writing.

What we make

Everything starts practical. Words you'll actually use, greetings that carry respect, phrases for the market and the home—alongside the traditions, proverbs and plant knowledge that give the language its depth.

Start with the free guide, watch on YouTube, or write to us at sannu@hausaheritage.org. Sannu da zuwa—welcome.
